Another team new to the Premier
League, Leicester City will be hoping they can impress the fans of the best
league in the world and scrape survival. It will be a tough ask but if any of
the newly promoted sides are up to the task, Leicester City are.
Transfers
Last season Leicester didn’t
have a good transfer window. Other than the loan signing of Miquel from
Arsenal, Leicester didn’t really sign anyone worth noting as players like Dean
Hammond and Zoumana Bakayogo failed to impress and the free transfer of
Gary-Taylor Fletcher didn’t exactly make the Leicester City fans go wild with
excitement.
This season has been
considerably different. Leicester released all the players considered to be deadwood
and signed some really good additions. These players included Marc Albrighton,
Matthew Upson and their marquee signing Leandro Ulloa. Ulloa will undoubtedly
be their best signing and will be the key player in a crucial campaign for the
Foxes.
Predicted Line-up
Leicester don’t have the best but
don’t have the worst of teams. Their attack is fairly decent, they have two
decent wingers and then they just have a bunch of average players until you
reach arguably their best player Schmeichel. Schmeichel will be key to the
success of Leicester this season and many fans of the game were surprised when
Schmeichel signed a new deal as many big clubs were after him.
Squad Depth
Leicester don’t have the best of
squad depth to be honest. Other than Jamie Vardy and players like De Laet,
Leicester have a poor squad with players like Andy King and Konchesky, players
that will fail to make an impact and could be the downfall of an otherwise half
decent Leicester team.
Final Predicted Finish: 15th.
Although I think Leicester will
struggle this season, I don’t think they will get relegated. Their quality in
attack and decent wingers should provide enough goals to get results and even
though they don’t have the best defence in the world, Schmeichel and Morgan are
experienced heads that know how to deal with the toughest of situations.
Predicted Key Player: Leandro
Ulloa.
Leandro Ulloa is a great striker
and without a doubt without his goals, Brighton would not have had the season
they did last campaign. But now he finds himself at a new challenge, the
Premier League, a league he is yet to prove himself in and a league he can
certainly win over his critics with good performances in. However, Ulloa needs
to get goals for a completely different reason as well, he needs to get goals
for Leicester. If Ulloa can get say 10-15 goals, Leicester will stay up, but if
he fails to impress, they could go down so without a single doubt in my mind;
Ulloa is key to Leicester this season and could decide whether they go down or
stay up.
